Bethesda Mission Plans Renovation and New Facilities
In public meetings this week, executive director Bryan Yesilonis announced Bethesda Mission's a $7.6 million major renovation and building project at 611-613 Reily St.
The plans include a complete restoration of the current facility, constructed in 1914. On the site of the demolished motel near 7th St, a 18,000 sq ft building will be constructed to offer career counseling, offices, recreational areas, drop-off areas and storage. It would not increase the missions current 84-bed shelter capacity, Yesilonis said. Finally, the project includes greater handicap access and beautification improvements such as trees and greenery along 6th and Reily.
The Bethesda Mission invites Midtown residents to the Planning Commission meeting at City Government Center on March 7th for further public comment. For questions, contact Ken Ross, Director of Community Relations, at 257-4442 ext 223.
